Is it possible to download an inspection from 3D to pocket 3D, or is the sychronization only in one direction? What if I start a report on 3D and then want to put the inspection onto the handheld? I cannot find any reference in the help files on this issue.

Thanks,
Joe

You cannot transfer a "regular" inspection from your main computer to a PDF- this would be any file you open in your regular Report Writer program. The Pocket PC operating system simply cannot open that kind of file.

Instead, you can only pre-start a new "pocket" inspection on your main computer for transfer to your PDF, which is really the same as starting a new report there, other than you can pre-merge some of the Office Management job information if you like. The only way to pre-start pocket inspections is in Office Management to use the New Inspection button and choose the Pocket3D version of your forms. That sounds like the function you are looking for.
You can find more information about this in the HelpDesk. See the Documentation for Pocket3D section under Using Pocket3D "Linking with Office Management"

Once you've opened a report in the regular Report Writer, that file cannot be sent to a PDF. If that's what you're looking to do, you may be able to use the File > Merge Pocket3D Inspection to merge unused fields from a PDF file into an existing report. Or instead merge two converted regular reports together. More details are found in the Pocket3D documentation Additional Tips section "Merging Inspections"
