To use Pocket3D software, your Pocket PC or phone must run Windows Mobile Professional or Windows Mobile Classic (pocket PC without a phone) or "Windows Mobile for Pocket PC". Note that not all Windows Mobile smartphones can run Pocket3D. Professional or Classic versions have more features and abilities than Standard editions so they can run Pocket3D and other Pocket programs.
To generally tell if a Windows Mobile device will work with Pocket3D note whether the windows Start logo is at the top of the device screen (YES, it should work!) or bottom (NO, it's just a standard Smartphone), and whether the unit has a touchscreen that works with a stylus (Yes!). Units with a touchscreen and stylus and the Windows start button logo at the top generally should be able to run Pocket3D. To find current models visit: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...artphones.mspx To only show models that generally should work with Pocket3D, check the box for "Touchscreen with stylus" before searching. Read reviews and keep in mind screen sizes or other characteristics may vary, making a particular device more or less suitable for field use. 3D Inspection Systems cannot and does not test every available device. You may prefer to use a separate phone and Pocket PC device. For example, some pocket device screens might be larger and easier to see. A number of plain Pocket PCs are listed in the Vertical Devices page: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...mspx?curPg=All Last edited by Donna : 11-20-2008 at 02:32 PM. The above information in the prior post applies to Windows Mobile 5 devices.
When looking at Windows Mobile 6 devices, please note that Microsoft has changed how they define device specs. (which is good because a couple manufacturers dumbly used the word "smartphone" or similar in some Pocket PC Phone Edition model names )New Windows Mobile 6 devices will run one of these: Windows Mobile "Professional" = formerly Pocket PC Phone Edition Windows Mobile "Classic" = formerly Pocket PC Windows Mobile "Standard" = formerly Smartphone Therefore, Pocket3D should run fine on Windows Mobile 6 "Professional" and "Classic" devices. However, Pocket3D will NOT run on Windows Mobile 6 "Standard" devices. So check those specs before you purchase. |

Also, the more RAM you get, the more space for storing reports and forms, and running programs. We'd recommend nothing lower than 64 MB RAM. More is always better of course, especially if your forms tend to be large.
